Aluthgama Kande Viharaya
Kande Vihara is an important Buddhist temple in Kalutara district which was built in 1734 and has been a regional Buddhist center ever since. This temple was built on a hill, hence its name ”Kande Viharaya”. It houses one of the largest Buddha statues in the world erected in the recent past and can be seen from afar. Below this statue is a building full of images that tell the story of Jathaka and events related to the life of Lord Buddha.
