Kosgoda Turtle Farm
Kosgoda Turtle Farm
There are some nice turtle hatcheries on the coast, especially in and around the Kosgoda area. Many are sustainably run by local people, with volunteers from other countries helping out throughout the year.
The experience for tourists is just brilliant. If you stop by during the day you can see all the adorable little hatchlings or the older and wiser turtles that are up to mischief in the shells. But the real fun is being part of the release! It takes place almost every day around sunset. The staff selects the animals to be released, puts them in small buckets and hands them to you.
